Coca-Cola Greece Receives Three Prestigious Awards for Social Responsibility in the Community and Workplace

February 4, 2010

Coca-Cola Greece was recently recognized for its corporate social responsibility efforts with three awards at the prestigious CSR Excellence Awards Ceremony.

The CSR Excellence Awards recognize achievement across all industries, not only food and beverage, and are awarded by a committee comprised of credible stakeholders, such as nongovernment organizations and government officials. The recognition of excellence in three categories demonstrate the passion our Company has for bringing the commitments of our Live Positively platform to life at work and in our community.

Continuous Achievement Award
The most coveted award of the ceremony, the Excellence Award for "Continuous Achievement" demonstrates consistent and long-term commitment. It was presented to Coca-Cola Greece for the system-funded "MODERATION-BALANCE-DIVERSITY" school program, which helps to fight obesity by raising awareness about the importance of balanced nutrition and active lifestyles among students ages 5-12. Under the auspices of the Ministry of Health, the program has now entered its 4th year and, by 2011, will reach out to more than 60,000 students, 900 schools and 3,000 classes and teachers. In 2008, the same program was recognized internationally as "Best New Health Initiative" at the 2008 Beverage Innovation Awards in Moscow.

Human Resources Award
Coca-Cola Greece received the "Human Resources" Award for their "Wellness@Work" program, which forms part of our Live Positively commitment to make a positive difference in the lives of our associates and the local community. Their winning submission showcased the four main pillars of their Wellness@Work program: health and wellness, work-life balance, social action and once in a lifetime experiences.

Environment Award
The Excellence Award for "Environment" in the "Water Resources/Use" category was presented to the Coca-Cola system in Greece for the Mission Water Rainwater Harvesting Program that installed rainwater harvesting systems in public buildings and schools in three water-scarce Cycladic islands (Naxos, Syros, Tinos). Enough rainwater was collected to cover the secondary water needs of 500 local citizens (washrooms, watering, etc). With a goal to cover all Cycladic islands by 2012, this initiative is part of their broader Mission Water program launched in 2006 that includes ongoing education and awareness-raising communications (digital, TV, print, radio), as well as annual Lake Kerkini clean-ups.
