COCA-COLA CONTINUES ITS STRONG COMMITMENT TO CHINA THROUGH PARTNERSHIP WITH SHANGHAI EXPO

2010 Shanghai World Expo logo SHANGHAI, April 30, 2010 -  Visiting Shanghai to attend the opening of the 2010 World Exposition in Shanghai, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Coca-Cola Company, Muhtar Kent today reaffirmed the Company's long term commitment to China.

"We have great confidence in the future success of China," said Mr. Kent. "We are making strong progress with our US$2 billion investment plan, expanding our product portfolio, building new production facilities, investing in innovation and marketing. And today, we are very proud to be a worldwide partner of the Shanghai Expo."

The Coca-Cola Company is one of the very few companies with its own corporate pavilion at the 2010 World Exposition in Shanghai. It is expected to become the biggest Exposition ever held and also the largest public event in history, with an estimated attendance of 70 million Chinese and international visitors.

"This will provide us with a unique opportunity to showcase our company's vision to the world community and celebrate the unity of our corporate "Live Positively" mission with the Exposition's theme of "Better City, Better Life," said Mr. Kent, from Shanghai following a sneak preview of the Coca-Cola pavilion just before the official opening of the Expo. "We also invite the public to visit the Coca-Cola "Happiness Factory" which allows visitors to experience the secret behind the product they love and learn for themselves the innovations and excitement we are bringing to the beverage industry," Mr. Kent continued.

"Our support for the 2010 Shanghai World Exposition is truly in line with our strong commitment to China. Coca-Cola is the only international company which has supported the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the 2008 Beijing Paralympics Games, the Special Olympics in Shanghai in 2007 and now the 2010 Shanghai World Exposition. Through our accelerated investment plan, we have expanded the choice we are offering Chinese consumers by broadening our product portfolio -- we have more than doubled the number of product offerings over the last few years. Together with our bottling partners we opened a new innovation center in Shanghai and three new production plants in China last year. Earlier this month we broke ground for a new plant in Henan Province which is going to become our biggest production plant in China. In addition we have another two new bottling plants scheduled to open in 2010," Mr. Kent said, as he was joining the official opening ceremony of the 2010 World Exposition in Shanghai.

The two new Coca-Cola bottling plants in China will open in Inner Mongolia and in the Guangdong province later in 2010.

Coca-Cola was the first international American based company to support the Shanghai Expo, when the Company signed as a global partner in 2007.

At the Coca-Cola 3,000 square meters pavilion dubbed "The Happiness Factory" visitors will be taken on a fully immersive, journey of fantasy. They will be greeted by animated happiness characters, who will share uplifting stories bringing a magical world to life. Amazing creatures, out of the ordinary landscapes and sensational music will all express "A World Refreshed with Happiness." Visitors will be engaged, entertained and inspired throughout their journey, while also learning about Coca-Cola's nearly 125 year history of innovation in beverages and sustainability worldwide.

Guests at the Coca-Cola pavilion will be able to experience and taste new beverage innovations and grab a limited edition PlantBottle, a lightweight, plastic bottle containing plant based material demonstrating Coca-Cola's latest innovation in sustainable packaging. Outside and around the Coca-Cola Happiness Factory, there will be special "Happiness events" including celebrity performances and unique animation on an impressive 15-meter high Coca-Cola bottle composed of more than 3,000 light panels visible from all sides.

Visitors with an interest in Corporate Social Responsibility will find plenty of examples of how Coca-Cola and its bottlers in China have always been active corporate citizens, and been a part of the local social fabric.
