The
Coca-Cola Company Responds to VAULT Zero Benzene
Lawsuit
02/20/07
The following statement is from The Coca-Cola Company in response
to an amended lawsuit filed in the United States District Court
for the District of Kansas by attorney Neal Sader alleging high
levels of benzene in the Company's products:
Our Company's foremost commitment is to our consumers. Our
top priority is always to ensure the quality and safety of our
products through rigorous food safety procedures. Although the
FDA and other food safety authorities have reiterated that there
is no known health risk to consumers from the benzene levels
found in soft drinks, The Coca-Cola Company has
recently reformulated its VAULT Zero and Fanta Pineapple products
to minimize or eliminate possibility that those products can
form benzene. Products labeled with a best-by date of January
2008 or later are the reformulated VAULT Zero and Fanta Pineapple
products.
